Every now and then, we spark up a conversation with an old friend and come to find that we have similar aspirations in life. The passions which we share connect us in ways that sometimes defy explanation. Sometimes, those passions become the very things that cause collaboration on a larger scale. Almost two years ago, as the founders sat at a local bar, we decided there was a better, more enriching way to communicate, and we were going to foster that. We were going to get people to come together to share their passions and meet new people like we did so often in our day-to-day lives. With this, we created our brainchild: Ignitus.

But, sometimes that brainchild was a wild child and its imagination ran a little too wild to be controlled. Although we wanted to get people to come together, we could never quite nail down what the overall identity of Ignitus was going to be, so we just threw together some events and tried to get people to talk to each other, unsure of where we wanted to take it next. This continued until recently, when we took a step back and decided that we weren’t going to host another event until we nailed down a direction, and today we’re proud to announce that CityNova is now the spiritual successor of Ignitus.

Now, instead of simply introducing you to new people and new small businesses, we want to be the first to introduce you to the newest of everything that the city has to offer. In essence, we want to become the pulse of the city, and drive you to a new experience every day. Whether that comes in the form of a new connection via one of our engaging events or simply munching down on a new epic burger because you found it in one of our high-quality articles, we’ll leave to you.

One thing’s for sure: CityNova is here to bring you everything new. Now.

Matt Teaford is a meatatarian, craft beer enthusiast, and follower of his spirit animal, which he believes to be a Kodiak Bear. He can often be found hiking in the backwoods of Kentucky or bragging about both his hometown of Cincinnati and expansive knowledge of music. Except Polka. He knows nothing about Polka.

Matt founded CityNova because he wants people to experience life for all that it’s worth. He also thinks that nap time should be offered by all employers. Since he found no such opportunity, he thought a startup might be his best chance.

He’s also a political Independent who vies for true transparency and accountability in government, but that’s neither here nor there…
